Description of Service:

  • A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a system at the University that allows an off-campus computer to connect to the University network.
  • When connected to the VPN, an off-campus computer will be treated by the university network as though it were on-campus.
  • Access is available by request & approval.

Approval:

  • Access to the VPN is limited to those with a legitimate business need that is not met within our remote environment. 
  • If your VPN request is approved, refer to the Knowledge Base for connection instructions.
  • VPN access will expire to those not utilizing it every 90 days. If you no longer have access please complete a new request form.

How do I get it:

  • To request access, click Request Service at the upper right-hand side.
  • Support available Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm

VPN Requirements & Access Information:

  • Users must have a strong justification to accomplish work. A list of systems used is required.
  • Must have high speed Internet access from the location VPN will be used.
  • Can only be used via an ESU owned computer. You will need to list the computer number of your assigned device.
  • Are you a remote worker and approved to work from home? Supervisor approval is required. You will need to list your supervisor.
  • Must use authentication for Duo and be able to use the Duo Mobile App.
  • VPN access will NOT be granted for generic accounts. NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Users will be restricted from VPN access if not used in the last 90 days.
  • If VPN access is lost, it will need to be requested.
  • Install & utilize the VPN through the Cisco AnyConnect application.

Additional Information:

  • If you have already been granted access to the VPN and are experiencing issues connecting or using the client, please contact the Call the IT Help Desk at (620) 341-5555  OR use the Report VPN Issues form.
  • Alternatively, users can access ESU systems from personal or ESU computers via SkyLab.
