Using the Teams App on your Computer.
- After picking up a phone call and being connected to the user you can then chose to transfer a phone call.
- After clicking the transfer button at the top, you will be presented with two different options; “Transfer”, or “Consult then transfer”. (Pictured below)

- To "Transfer" a phone call is to transfer the call instantly without speaking with another user on the line.
- To "Consult then transfer" is to speak with the person you are transferring to before transferring the call.
After selecting an option you should get a window where you can enter the name of someone on campus to transfer to them or can type in a phone number to transfer the call to.

Transferring calls on your smart phone from the Teams app
Upon picking up a phone call on your iPhone you will get this screen. If you are not planning on transferring a call you can remain on this screen. If you want to transfer this call then select the teams button:
After selecting the Teams button you will be brought to a new screen where you can select the transfer button:
After clicking transfer you can select the type of call transfer you want to complete.
From here you can select the type of transfer that you want to do.
- "Transfer now" allows you to immediately transfer the call to another number.
- "Consult First" allows you to speak with the person you are transferring to before transferring the call. However when using your mobile device it will instead attempt to send a direct message using teams to the person you are transferring to instead of ringing their line.
(Please do not use the Consult First option if you are transferring a call to a department line/ CAP-line. These lines do no have physical accounts and do not have a way to intercept the message that is being sent).
- If you use the "Consult First" option you can send a message to the user you want to transfer the call to. After confirming if you can transfer the call to them you can click the alternating arrows icon in the top right corner.

After selecting "transfer now" you will be brought to this screen:
From here you can type someone's name, phone number, or extension to transfer the call to them. After getting this screen you can send the call because the call has now transferred.
Note: Using the "Consult First" option prompts you to send a Teams message to the person you are transferring the call to which virtually has no use when it comes to a live phone call. If a phone call must be transferred you should use the "Transfer Now" button instead.
