How To:
- Use your Cisco Phone for Teams Calling
Applies To:
- Front desk shared phones. These phones have been configured by IT to work with Teams Calling. AKA CAP Phones (Common Area Phones)
Steps:
Your phone is now setup with your Teams account...
You can refer to the image below for a quick start guide to the different buttons and their functions.
The red light on this phone will still inform you of voicemails similar to the old system. Many functions from the old system are still usable in this new version of the phone. Note:
In order to get you more familiar with the phone and its features we have defined the four lower buttons (below the screen on the physical phone) as "Softkey buttons". These buttons are used to make selections on the screen and are used to complete a series of functions depending on its location on screen.
A lot of the navigation of the phone can be done using the blue wheel for up and down motion while the softkey buttons allow you to select items on the physical phone screen.
Making Calls:
To dial phone numbers you only need to dial the area code and phone number or the users extension. There is no longer a need to dial 9 or 1 to dial outside of the university.
Answering Calls:
To answer an incoming call you can click the speaker button or pickup the handset. If you answer a phone call while already on the phone your first phone call will
Transferring Calls:
While on the phone with a user you can select the transfer softkey button, or the Transfer button the on the phone.
Then select the "More" softkey button.
On this page there is a button called "BlindXfer" which means to Blind transfer. Selecting the button allows you to transfer the call to the user without speaking with them before hand.
Dial the users number.
You can now press "End Call" and hang up the phone.
While on the phone with a user you can select the transfer softkey button, or the Transfer button the on the phone.
You can now dial the users number and press "Call" to begin dialing the number.
Once the user picks up their phone you can select "End Call" to end the call with the user if they do not pick up or press "transfer" to transfer the call.
After transferring the call the phone call will end.
Settings:
Using the Settings menu you can view your Recents and Speed Dials.
The Recents button will allow you to view all calls, missed calls, received calls, or your placed calls. You can use the numbers or the middle dial to navigate these menus and use the select "Call" to dial that number that phone number.
The Speed Dial section allows you to set and dial numbers for speed dial.
Setting up your voice mail:
To access your Voice mail you can select the voice mail button on screen or dial your extension to access your voice mail box. From here you can use the number pad to select different prompts and view or set a voice mail box for when you are away or when your phone forwards to voice mail.
