Using a VPN Connection on Mac when Off Campus

Tags VPN Remote

How To:

  • Install the VPN Client on Mac

Applies To:

  • Staff & Faculty

Steps:

In order to protect university resources and information, Remote Desktop Connection Protocol (RDP) will no longer be supported as a stand-alone connection. A VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection allows for safe, secure, traffic access to university resources when off campus. NOTE: You will not be able to test this connection when on campus.

1. Go to the ESU App Store and download "Cisco VPN install". Once it has completed, you will see it show up fro Launch pad

App in ESU app store

2.  Now that the VPN is installed you should be able to sign into the VPN while off campus. You can use these addresses to get connected:

esu-vpn1.emporia.edu

OR

esu-vpn2.emporia.edu

Cisco Secure Client address screen

Note: If you are not able to sign-in and are sure that you are entering your username and password correctly then you may not have access to the VPN. You may also only connect to the VPN while off campus.
