Using Duo with a Hardware Token

  •  Use Duo with a Hardware Token

Applies To:

  • ESU Faculty, Staff, and Student Employees that have been enrolled in Duo


Note: You may request a Duo Token from the help desk if you do not have a cell phone. Your first Duo token is free but if you require another one due to damage or the token getting lost it will cost you $10.00 plus shipping.


Hardware tokens are the most basic way of authenticating. The token will be set up by IT for the user and show up in Duo. (Tokens cannot be shared with other users)

1) When signing in you select Enter a Passcode.


2) Press the red button on your hardware token to generate a new passcode.

3) Enter the passcode on the website.


NOTE: Tokens can get "out of sync" if the button is pressed too many times in a row and the generated passcodes are not used for login. Contact the help desk if your token stops working.
