Questions:
- Why is ESU switching from Symantec to Barracuda?
Emporia State University is upgrading to Barracuda Email Security to provide better spam filtering, modern threat detection (like phishing and malware), easier management tools for users, and improved service continuity during email outages.
- Will I lose access to emails quarantined by Symantec?
After the transition, you will be able to access Symantec's quarantine portal until September 15, 2025. Please review and manage any held messages before the cutoff date.
- How will I know if a message has been quarantined?
You will receive a daily email digest from Barracuda showing any quarantined messages. You can review, release, whitelist, or delete them directly from the email. Access to Barracuda portal will be available on Monday May 5, 2025.
- Is there a mobile app for Barracuda Email Security?
There’s no standalone app, but the Barracuda portal is mobile-responsive, so you can manage your quarantine from any phone or tablet browser.
- How do I report phishing attempts?
Use the “Phish Alert Report” button in your Outlook ribbon.
- What happens to my current whitelist/blacklist from Symantec?
Your Symantec safe/blocked sender lists will not transfer automatically. You’ll need to recreate these in Barracuda. Access to Barracuda portal will be available next week.
