Sync Issues with OneDrive

How To:

  • Resolve Sync Issues with OneDrive (Windows)

Applies To:

  • Staff or Faculty

Troubleshooting Steps:

  • Make sure OneDrive is running. Check the System Tray (down by the time) to make sure OneDrive is running and signed in. The cloud icon should be blue.
  • Do you have a file that is larger than the 100 GB limit? If so, remove the file from OneDrive.
  • Does your computer have Windows Updates? If so, install those and reboot.
  • Do you have the latest version of OneDrive?
  • Has your password changed? Is your account locked? Is OneDrive needing to authenticate? Are you logged into your computer and the OneDrive app with your newest password?
  • Close OneDrive (right-click on the icon in the system tray and choose close) and relaunch it from the start menu.

  •  If all else fails you may need to remove and re-add the work account associated with your computer. Below are the steps to complete this task.
  • First you will need to uninstall OneDrive.
  1. Use the windows button to search for "Add or remove programs". Uninstall OneDrive

        2. Use the windows button to search for "Access work or school". Disconnect the emporia.edu account.

         - (This will remove the account from applications that are signed into it such as Office. Not to worry we will sign back in later). (Also to note is if a generic account it should be fine to leave it there. If the generic account begins interfering with email in particular then this account may need removed).

        3. Upon signing out Navigate to the web and go to OneDrive. We can get there by going to Hornet365.com > Employees > OneDrive.

          - Upon signing in in the bottom left hand corner will be a button called "Get the OneDrive apps" used to install OneDrive

        4. Upon re-installing login as the user attempting to use OneDrive and when syncing files be sure to click the option "Use these files" (Failing to use this option will then create duplicate files and that can make One Drive a mess).
