Steps:
LockDown Browser is a locked browser for taking quizzes in Canvas. It prevents you from printing, copying, going to another URL, or accessing other applications during a test. If a Canvas test requires that Respondus LockDown Browser be used, you will not be able to take the test with a standard web browser. LockDown Browser should only be used for taking Canvas quizzes. It should not be used in other areas of Canvas.

Installing the LockDown Browser on a Personal Device
1) To install the Lockdown browser you will need to go to the Respondus Website to download the installer for your device.
Note: If you are using an ESU Computer (refer to "Installing the LockDown Browser on an ESU Windows Device or Mac Device")

2) Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the install.

After installing the program you can launch the browser and navigate to your quiz in Canvas.
Installing the LockDown Browser on a Chromebook
1) Go to the Chrome Webstore.
2) Use the search bar at the top to search for “Mastery Connect Lockdown Browser".

3) Click the “Add to Chrome” button.

Installing the LockDown Browser on an ESU Windows Device
1) Go to the "Symantec Software Portal".

2) On the "Applications" tab scroll down and click on the “Respondus Lockdown Browser – Lab Edition”.

3) Click on the “Request Application” button.

The Lockdown Browser will start installing on the computer. Once it is finished installing, you will be able to see the Lockdown Browser on your desktop, or by searching for “Lockdown Browser” in the search bar on windows.
Installing the LockDown Browser on an ESU Mac Device
1) Go to the "ESU App Store", located on the task bar at the bottom of the screen or by going to the applications and searching “ESU App Store”.

2) Using the search bar in the top left of the screen search for “Respondus”.

3) Wait until the Lockdown Browser finishes installing. Then, open the "Applications" folder in "Finder" and use the search bar to search for “Lockdown Browser” or scroll down the page.

4) Open the Lockdown Browser, if the following pop-up window opens click the “Close Applications and Continue”.

Taking an Assessment
1) Close all programs that are not required to be open.
2) Locate the “LockDown Browser” shortcut on the desktop and double-click it. (For Mac users, launch “LockDown Browser” from the Applications folder.)
3) If prompted to close a blocked program (e.g. screen capture, instant messaging) choose "Yes" when prompted.
4) Login to your ESU Canvas account and find your required quiz/test.
5) Navigate to the quiz and select the "Take a Quiz" link.
6) If the instructor created an access code that students must enter to start the quiz. Lockdown Browser will prompt students to enter the instructor-provided code before proceeding with the quiz.
