Steps:

After setting up Google 2-step verification you may have noticed that you can setup your account to also use an Authenticator App. You can setup other methods as well such as using passkeys and security keys as well as backup codes.

1) Sign into your Gmail account. (This can be at any Google account sign in).

2) Click on your profile in the top right corner and click Manage your Google Account.

3) Click the Tab that says Security

Note: If you are on a mobile device which involves you using the Gmail app you may notice that these titles are spanned across the top instead of along the side. The buttons will still take you to the same place in your settings.

4) Click on 2-Step Verification

5) From here you can click on a 2-step method of your choice. Here we will select Authenticator.

6) Click Set up authenticator

7) Scan the QR code using your preferred authenticator app then click next and type in your pass code from your app.

7a) If you are unable to scan the QR code you can also click Can't scan it?

From here you can follow the steps to enter your information directly into the Authenticator app and allow your app to verify your log in using a pass code.
