Troubleshooting Canvas Login as a Non-ESU Student

  • Troubleshoot Canvas Login as a Non-ESU Student

Applies To:

  • Those taking Canvas courses that are not enrolled as ESU students, auditors of a class, mentor teachers, AOP coaches, and some courses for continuing education or for credit. Some examples are: 'Growing the Brain', 'Summer Institute', 'Mentor teacher', 'Trauma, Connection and Emotional-Wellness', "Kindergarten Readiness’, and there are also some library courses.

Steps:

Having trouble signing in? Check to make sure you are on the correct webpage.

Users must access Canvas from the following URL:

canvas.emporia.edu/login/canvas  

When on the the correct page on a computer browser the page will NOT say Emporia State University, the page will be gold and black with a gray footer that says Instructure at the bottom. You will log in with your email address and the password you were given or set up.

This has the wrong URL canvas.instructure.com.

Having trouble navigating to the URL?

Go to - hornet365.com, Techsite, Search Knowledgebase, then click the Home tab in the upper left. The link for the Alternate Canvas login will be on the right side of the page.


Still having trouble getting to the page?

Do you happen to be on a school or work network or computer? Are you using a phone or tablet? If so, that could be the reason for your issues. There can also be issues when trying certain browsers or using a mobile device. We recommend using Google Chrome from a PC or Mac.
